Kemblesville Early Learning Center
renovation
Landenberg, PA | 44,000 SF

This project included a full renovation of an existing elementary school, which had been abandoned for over six years, and the complete reconstruction of one classroom wing. Bound by state laws with respect to public bidding, HSA worked with a construction manager to ‘fast-track’ ten separate multiple prime bid contracts in order to meet Avon Grove Charter School’s aggressive schedule.
Working within a very tight budget, the design adopted no-cost solutions to create a sense of place for the school. New finishes, creative space planning and lively elements were designed to provide wayfinding solutions for the children.
Heckendorn Shiles Architects also provided project management/owner’s representation services. These services included management of environmental consultants, abatement and remediation, land development approvals, and approvals from regulatory agencies.
