Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation
feasibility studies
Philadelphia, PA

The Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation’s mission is to use the sport of hockey to help educate young people on how to succeed in the game of life. In addition to teaching children how to play hockey, the Foundation seeks to instill in their participants life-enhancing values such as teamwork, positive self-esteem, the importance of hard work, and respect for themselves and their teammates.
In order to achieve the Foundation’s mission, a facility that combines a diversity of spaces is required. The design for this flagship facility includes indoor ice hockey rinks, classrooms, locker rooms, accessory athletic spaces, a library, administrative offices, event spaces and outdoor recreation facilities. Sustainable design features would be ‘showcased’ to provide a learning experience throughout the facility to reinforce the mission of the Foundation.
